The darker green/black is Hu75 but I have noticed that many prefer Hu91, should I repaint or leave as is??

How does what you have there compare with the box art mate - forget knowing what it "should" be like in real life - does it match the box art colours - which I know isn't an easy call, but an extreme test would be to put a few dabs of the paint on the box picture itself to see if the colours match.

I decided that I wasn't happy with how dark the Hu75 was so I've re-done the splinter in Hu91 and am much, much happier with it now:








Light blue next and then putting the crew in place.

Ooh, this is starting to get reet excitin' now. Thank gawd you're not going down the filler route for water this year Tom, you'd have needed an 18-wheeler to get that baseboard to Telford

You could say that I have definitely learnt my lessons well when it comes to bases Al this will be only a light skim of filler with cotton wool splashes, light and easy to carry 'specially with everything else I've got to get to Telford this year.

Started to get some work in on the mount for the Ju88:






Simply a block of polystyrene rough cut to shape and an Airfix flying base PVA'd to it, once this is dry I'll use the filler to seal it up and strengthen the join then paint to match the rest of the base, as its out of the main view line for the box-art it should prove unobtrusive....I hope

This afternoon I 'ave mostly been mixing filler and getting it everywhere but where its supposed to go

I'll need to mix up some more once this has dried to finish hiding the stand for the Ju88 but the rest should be job done So much easier once you know how.

Looks like an ice breaker at the moment. I hope you get her out to finish the details.

No need James, I can work on her whilst in situ, the base is quite compact

We have the beginnings of water:








I've used three shades of blue this year in the basecoat to try and get greater variation, the Hudson dio was a little too dark and monotone.

The brighter blue matches the box art nicely.

Update time again folks. The water surface has had a wash with patches of both green and blue as well as a white drybrush to the ships bow wave and wake.

The extra bits have been fitted to the Cossack and the Ju-88 has its crew and glazing in place as well as the decals. Which were a pleasant surprise as they were about 40 years old but worked perfectly

You'll find that you can be quite heavy handed dry brushing white on the waves, it never is as much as you think it is while doing it.
