You know that so amazing obvious, that I feel so amazingly stupid for not having figured it out long ago ...

This is great Barry, I want to build this eventually as the Saskatchewan Air Ambulance, as we used to live in the Province.

But where's the resin? :)

Cheers

self inflicted woes here. And see how poorly the green covered. What's up with Humbrol anyway? One tin is thicker than honey and the next is, like, pre-thinned!

Although I've never really had an issue with Humbrol enamels, I don't like airbrushing gloss paints, in fact I'm pretty bad at getting the mix right with them. For a gloss finish these days I've started to use matt equivalents, I just find the consistency of matt paint easier to work with and then a smooth over with micromesh followed by gloss clear coat or more than one coat to build up to the depth of shine that I want. I usually end up faffing with more than one coat of gloss anyway trying to get it right, so the painting sequence isn't lengthened that much more, if at all.

Hopefully this year we will see much improvement in the Hu enamels as they did announce they would be reformulated at the start of the year as well as a few new colours.

Well..this last bit took longer than expected. I repositioned the float rudders to the 'up' position and scratch built the beaching gear and the ladders. Also, the support struts for the main wing struts were over scale, so I replaced them with smaller plastic rod. The decals behave very well but are dead flat, so to make them inconspicuous, I had to over coat them with clear gloss before spraying the final satin coat. This is a nice kit and there are a surprising number of aftermarket decals available for it.

A really sharp looking build, like the others have said the colour scheme is a real eye catcher. ;-)
