How about this: A RB-36 with the guns deployed! In all my years, I've never seen the guns deployed on a B-36. It was at the Castle AFB museum, and it was well worth the 5.5 hour drive just to see this. Totally unexpected...I was up there for a contest and just to see the museum. Considering how long I've been rummaging around, it's not often that I get to see something I've never seen before.

Wow!! Great pic! The only turret I have seen is the stand-alone display by the B-36 at the USAF Museum at Wright-Patt...

I just love the B-36. Recently I found a little clip on youtube where they deployed those turrets. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bK7KvhjQx9k&feature=g-vrec My chances are very slim in ever seeing a B-36 in my life. :-(

Now I've come to think of it, I've got 2 in the stash. A GB anyone? ;-)

what a great film; how did they film it without squashing the cameraman?

As a youngster growing up in the late-40's, early-50's, I used to see them in "formation" once in a while.
I am assuming they were those based at Loring AFB in Maine, coming down to Dover AFB in Delaware on a training flight.

What a beast! I wonder if anyone is ever going to have the motivation, time and not to mention the funds to bring one of these back to an airworthy status. Can you imagine the site of one of these doing a fly past in the company of a B-17, B-29 and a B-52. I think any airshow with those 4 on the program would become an automatic sell-out.

Dear Mr Bill Gates can I borrow a few million? I've just had an idea!
