What flew over your house today?
Re: What flew over your house today?
I saw that same Ercoupe again this morning, but this afternoon about an hour ago I heard a jet. It didn't sound like the typical A-10's or F-16's which are nearly every day. I was either a T-38 or F-5A headed from east to west just cruising at about 2500ft about a third of a mile to our south. Looked to be a light gray but hard to tell with the mid afternoon sun. Not something I see often, and pretty neat!

More like what doesn't fly over. Apart from the ADAC EC135 that comes over nearly everyday, we've had 3 C130's and a number of fast jets today. We are not far from Ramstein so we regularly get C17's coming in. Last year we had a couple of Osprey's fly over in formation and we regularly get Apache's.
As we're entering the summer airshow season we'll be seeing a lot of the Ju52 which lives at Speyer airfield, that's only about 30 minutes away. Theres also a gliding club and small airfield about 10 minutes away and a Gyrocopter lives there. I suppose I'm quite lucky to have a diverse and interesting range of aircraft nearby.

It's only pain, work through it.

A few weeks ago, there was a Hercules here, but I couldn´t get my camera out, in time.
Do the Dutch have Hercules? There was a Dutch troop exercise in May (Dutch still got some NATO troops in Germany)
nearby, so the Herc must have been part of that, I guess.
Waiting for the day, when wars for territory will be something to be read about in history books only.

Re: What flew over your house today?
Not exactly over my house, but over Hove this morning flew 5 Dakotas which I'm guessing we're heading for Portsmouth and the D-day commemorations
Managed a shot of four of the five, the sound even at the distance they were from me was awesome, I cannot begin to imagine what it must have sounded like 75 years ago as the airborne forces set out for Normandy.
RIP to all those who took part and who are no longer with us and good health to those still able to give us their first hand memories

If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

A wonderful sight, Jim and a fitting tribute to those who gave their all so that we haven't had to, we owe them so very much.

Whilst over on the IOW recently (also playing lawn bowls), we were greeted every day by the sound of a spitfire roaring overhead. We learnt that it is one that can be chartered for the princely sum of £2200 for a 20 minute flight which takes you around the island and back over the mainland in the direction of both Lee on Solent and round via Fawley/Lepe and back to the island.

Not over our house, but near enough over my head at City Airport today while doing a scaffold inspection:
BA City Flyer Embraer 170/175 taking off for Rotterdam

Re: What flew over your house today?
I really want to fly out of LCY one day, but only if going off to the West, as they go up at the steepest angle I've seen compared to Gatwick & Heathrow. They have to clear Canary Wharf by a good margin, but also stay under Heathrow approach; it looks exciting!ShaunW wrote:I bet that shook the scaffolding, Jim!

Re: What flew over your house today?
This is tenuous because:
a. I was on an open topped tour bus in Toronto.
b. It didn’t fly overhead!!
Sat 20th
The tour bus was heading along Front Street and I happened to look towards a place where an aircraft appeared in the haze. My first thought was ‘Lancaster’ which I dismissed and rapidly processed all the other types of aircraft with twin fins. However, as the aircraft rolled wings level I was able to make out the 4 engines and confirm my first thought - it was indeed a Lancaster. Unfortunately the timing of skyscraper/gap/view prevented me getting a photo.
