Curses! I’ve just discovered that the Cuban airforce had Avengers! Flown by FAEC and subsequently FAR.

Belay that Javelin, Tony!
Heaps of Avenger kits to choose from. Sword has a varied range. Then Hasegawa. Academy (tidied-up FROG) is OK, too.
Don't follow my example!

David,
I have more than enough models of ‘Cuban’ types, the Avenger is not going to be one of them!

Re: Skypirate's Hideaway
Rear glazing in place and framed with painted decal strip. The bottom section will be filled in with paint.
Now the canopy pieces can go on. Note that turret masking is finally removed. All my construction inside the turret can barely be seen through the kit glazing. And, unsurprisingly, the resin gun barrel broke off some time ago (it would have been hard to affix at this stage).
Cheers,
David

Excellent framing and masking David, the turret looks great. Shame about the gun though - can it be fixed?
The past, present, and future walked into a bar. It was tense.

Re: Skypirate's Hideaway
The Airfix 1/72 Grumman Avenger is finally finished.
Yes, I checked again this morning, and it is definitely finished
I am heading off tomorrow to chilly South Island, New Zealand, and I probably won't have time for a proper photo session until after I return on 2 April.
Meanwhile:
Thanks for all the encouragement along the way, fellow scale modellers!
This was a nostalgic labour of love; wouldn't I like to have the model I originally built back in the late 60s when the kit was new?!
Exactly like this:
Mine is slightly modified to the earlier TBM-1C.
Those were the days! I also wish I could find one of those Airfix magazine advertisements for the Avenger, 'just like the real thing'
Thanks for looking!

Re: Skypirate's Hideaway
The Avenger looks fantastic - great painting and all that work with the canopy really paid off!
I have a goodly stash of old Airfix Mags - will see if I can find that for you.

Re: Skypirate's Hideaway
Thanks very much, guys!
I didn't have time for Avenger photos today. But I did have a little time to review the workbench.
In progress:
Amodel 1/72 Yak-28 PM, primed and ready for painting.
Matchbox 1/72 Aeritalia G.91Y; just have to check the angle of the dual ventral fins, then ready for priming.
Definitely this year:
Annual 1/72 Bf-109
Matchbox 1/72 Meteor NF.12 (Aaarrrggh!)
Lurking:
Hasegawa 1/72 EE Lightning F.6 ( to replace a recently retired example)
Italeri 1/72 Hs 126 In 450 Sqn markings
Trumpeter 1/72 Westland Wyvern
And one other 1/48 kit; been waiting for decades, made a small start; very embarrassing
I am not taking the travelling workbench on this trip
I hope to check in from time to time.
Cheers,
David
Wow! That would be a real treat, thank you. Fingers crossed.

Great work on the Avenger David, the end result fully justifies the effort you have put into it.

Re: Skypirate's Hideaway
Thanks, Tony and Andy.
Today, I am in Sydney with my wife, on the way to Christchurch, NZ, tomorrow. We dropped in to the Biggles Bar in the Holiday Inn near our hotel.
I was pleasantly surprised! Vickers Vandal, are you paying attention?
Here's Biggles overlooking the bar:
And here I am alongside prints of Biggles paperback edition covers.
This will surely be a mandatory stop whenever we are overnighting near Sydney airport.
We have only just begun!
