That's one ugly dog!

It looks like a Mad Max helo cobbled together from scrapped helicopters. The Frankenchopper... :)

Wow, that has fallen out of an even taller ugly tree than the Apache  It will look as hard as nails when it's built up!

Ugly but very, very vicious. As a tank commander during the cold war it was one piece of equipment that I am glad I never came across in the flesh.

In model form, however it is a different beast.

The parts come on four sprues of grey, soft plastic, and one clear sprue:

Image

The exterior detailing is good, with engraved panel lines and small raised rivets as appropriate. The cockpit is very basic, but as the canopy is molded as one closed piece it should not matter too much. I do like the way that the pilot and weapons operator are in different poses:

Simple things.................

I am looking forward to getting my teeth in to this one.

That looks nice enough to me, but then as a simple man I like simple things  I agree that the basic cockpit interior shouldn't be too much of an issue under the closed canopy and especially if you use the crew figures.

Started off painting and building the cockpit interior, the IP decal is a nice touch:

Image

I have also started painting the crewmen (light blue flight-suits??), and parts of the 30mm Autocanon:

Image

There are 10 parts just for the canon. The flash suppressor has been modified with a bit of fine drilling:

Image

Although the exterior is nicely detailed, the interior leaves a lot to be desired. These will have to be removed so I can fit the floor-pan in:

The plastic is also giving me a major headache. Even though it has had a good warm soapy wash, the paint still needs two coats to get a decent coverage. Next time I do a Dragon kit I will probably give all the sprues a coat of primer prior to building.

Good start Chip. I think I've heard something about Dragon plastic and the possibility of release agent residue thereon before.

The tub is taking shape. I decided to stray from the instructions slightly and not fit the rear wall so as to aid line-up later.

Here it is fitted into the fuselage:

I have added a bit of sprue behind the IP as it did not seem too secure as it was:

Image

The Autocanon is now complete, and looks the business:

Image

I have also modified the rear wheel:

A small thing but I think it looks better.

Man, that cannon looks mean! Good job with the rear wheel, I agree that is well worth doing and is often overlooked.

Nice to see some kit supplied animation for the crew, and what a mean canon, space age looking all right. Great work.

It's those little touches other may not notice once the kit is built, but they give you immense satisfaction knowing that they are there.

Thanks guys.

The fuselage is now together, and I now seem to have join Dazzled in the filling/sanding/filling/sanding phase.

At least mind doesn't seem to need as much work as some of the builds on here. :)

Here are a few progress shots:

Don't you just love the way the camera shows up all the scratches on what I thought was a lovely smooth finish.
