Vietnam War GB? ****POLL****

Post by ShaunW »

I realise that this subject was covered last year in a GB but next year is the 40th anniversary of the end of U.S. combat involvement in the conflict and therefore I feel it might be an appropriate time to re-visit the theme. As far as I am aware, the Vietnam conflict in fact covered nigh-on 20 years but in order to focus the build and given the aforementioned 40th anniversary, I would propose to cover the period from when President Johnson sent in the first combat troops in March 1965 until President Nixon pulled them out in March 1973. From a modeller's point of view the theme covers just about everything, land, sea and air and I would not propose that build just focuses on U.S. subjects but could cover all combatant nations in the aforesaid time frame of U.S. involvement. If there is enough interest as far as a date is concerned for the GB April and August are out for me and as proposer I would be prepared to be GBL. How about it then?

Thanks for the interest boys, we'll have to wait and see if anyone else is up for it. I've got a classic Airfix F-4 that I'd like to have a crack at in a SEAC scheme, probably made as an E model and I've also got the Tamiya "Pibber" hiding in the stash by way of something a little different......

There's a Tamiya Spad and a couple of Hase F-8s calling my name from the loft, so yes I would be up for this.

Thanks for your interest Flak. I'll more than likely stick up a poll for this after the holidays and hopefully it will be a goer.

Make that the "Serious Six." I have several candidates but I fancy an F-4E loaded for bear.

Great stuff Jeff, good to have you aboard. I'll leave this over the holidays as I'm going to be busy with family stuff and hopefully getting my Apache build finished  Once everything is back to normal in January let's see about getting some dates sorted. Of course, if anyone else is interested then please come forward. Don't forget, this GB has the potential to feature a bit of everything, not just aircraft.
