2013 Group build suggestion: Spitfire/Seafire in 1/72: Pt.2
Hello:
Here is the new and improved Spitfire/Seafire group build in 1/72. It has been blessed by jRatz
- My idea is for a group build of postwar Seafires/Spitfires in 1/72 scale.
- Historical only, no what ifs.
- It can include any variant as long as it is from 1946 and up. I was thinking of allowing any manufacturer (Airfix, CMR, Special Hobby/MPM, Heller, etc.) as long as the kit is 1/72 scale.
- The idea is to have fun.
I am suggesting a quick start for March.
That way I can use those 19 Squadron decals from 1946 on my Heller Spitfire Mk.XVI

On second thoughts, let's not go to Camelot. It is a silly place!

Alright, Chuck..
You're in the right place.. might need to tighten the definition of the proposal a wee bit though.. the guidleines for proposing a GB are here..

There was a Seafire build recently but this lot are gaga for Supermarine anything so this could have legs..

On the premise that you can never have too many Spitfires (despite what Mrs. Ian says....) I'm in.
I'll wait to vote till you've tidied up in terms of GB guidelines.

As per remarks above, I have sent Chuck a PM on our Guidelines, and hopefully this proposal can be recast within them ....

I'm definitely in! There's a rumour going about that one can never have too many Spitfires. I build them and can verify that.
Confused as always, and somewhere in hiding on the Scandinavian peninsula...

I have no idea how these rumours get started.Prisca wrote:I'm definitely in! There's a rumour going about that one can never have too many Spitfires. I build them and can verify that.
That said I may join in this, even though I don't build Spits. I fancy doing one in Fijian Markings.. or maybe psychedelic.
oh, postwar in ver poll..

I am the one vote for the Griffin Spitfire/Seafire. But either or works.
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale

Once clearly defined, I shall participate - after all, I've heard it said "You cannot have too many Spitfires." It was either Neil Robinson or Hugh Dowding, I forget.....

"To Build or not to Build-That Is the Question:
Whether 'Tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The sprues and flash of outrageous Corsairs
Or to take CA against a Sea Fury
And by opposing, ignore them.. To Build.. Perchance a Hurri?
NO more! And by Build we mean Spit!
And you can never have too many of those, squire"

And with the Corsair's build, raging with Revell
whilst he ate his food, it gave him hell
shall in these confines of a forum voice
Cry 'Havoc,' and let slip the spitfires of war;
That this foul deed shall smell above the MEK
With corsair men, groaning for the build-able.
Oh and option one for me please.
All the best.

I have the Freightdog Post War Spitfires decal sheet, largely intact, so if anyone needs suitable decals, just send me a PM
I might even try a Ventura Seafire XV for this one. If I lose my marbles completely
Cheers
Andrew
PS You've all forgotten the real Shakespearean Spitfire quote, from King Lear:
