Re: MoMil's Bench
Thnaks for the comments on the Mossie folks, appreciated!
ShaunW, It's a great kit, crisp moulding and a good fit, any problems are of my own making
Cockpit fimished and the sides joined today, I'm quite pleased with the appearance of the cockpit, I thnk I'll change my mind and have the canopy open

Re: MoMil's Bench
Progress on the Chippie is halted at this point! Having got this far it was time to start on the engine and the compartment but, as I came to free the exhaust from the spruce, it wasn’t there!! I didn’t check the sprues when I opened the box/bag but I certainly didn’t cut it off so an immediate email to Airfix requesting a replacement. I did consider trying to scratch build it but if the worst comes to the worst, I’ll give it a try.
Cheers, Neale.

Re: MoMil's Bench
That's a nuisance! I hope Airfix can replace it in good time
Best wishes

Looking really good, Neale and I echo Jim's hope in that Airfix are able to replace the missing exhaust quickly for you.

Re: MoMil's Bench
Thanks Andy, iggie and Shaun for the comments and encouragement. While I am waiting at Airfixs pleasure, I thought I'd start on the 4th in the incresingly ill named trio of Mossies project!! You must all be getting fed up with cockpit shots but, just to prevent withdrawl syptoms, here is the latest set for the Airfix PR.XVI.
Cheers, Neale.

You're in good company with your trio; Douglas Adams wrote The Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy as a 'trilogy in four parts'
Best wishes

Whether it is 3 or 4 parts, a Mossie is always worth modelling!

You are in fine company, Neale - Spike Milligan wrote his wartime memoirs trilogy in SIX parts!
I have two more Tamiya Mossies in the stash, and I have successfully fended off the new Airfix competitor. So far.
That cockpit detail is looking tempting!

Having just built the Tamiya Mossie, and previously built the Airfix BXVI, both kits have their pros and cons, cockpits on both are only as good as the detail you put in, the Airfix idea of using the top of the nacelle as a jig makes the U/C build much easier than the Tamiya. The Airfix supplied 'mask' for the U/C wells is a great help when painting. Both will have you insert one or both sides into the cnopy which I don't like but both build up into goodx looking Mosquitos.
Cheers, Neale.

Re: MoMil's Bench
Slow but steady progress on the latest Mossie. All buttoned up, DDay stripe white areas painted and canopy masked so just need to mask the remaining areas and then it’s on with the PR blue and US markings.
Cheers, Neale.
