You don't come away from Bunnings with just wet & dry. You've got to get the sausage in bread on the way in, wander up & down a few aisles, wondering if any of this stuff could be adapted for modelling. You'll always find something handy for the garden shed.

Then unmasked ready for a gloss coat

Couple of minor touch ups, but I'm really pleased with how its turned out. My biggest masking job yet. Only hope the canopy is good too, the tape has been on a while. Another reason for the smiles, it's raining here today and I can smell a roast lamb in the oven. Must go and make some Yorkshire Puddings. Not a traditional accompaniment with lamb but the kids love 'em. Gotta keep the family pleased.

Down in Tasmania, we have had nearly a week of rain. Only now that once the rain is out, it becomes so cold, we see snow!

Which doesn't bother me. I hated my old bench outside, there were too many mosquitos and such. I'm glad I'll be getting a new workspace, one I can finally sit down to!

Another coat of gloss to seal the decals, unmask the canopy, add all the sticky out bits and she's done.

Here's the road base with a piece of 120 grit wet and dry. May need to go finer I think

Image

Gave the Male Tank a coat of varnish. It's now ready for some weathering. Perhaps I should buy more cashews and use a lid as a base for this. On the subject of varnish, this is what I've been using

Image

It's Pledge One Go floor polish. Doesn't look too promising when you pour some into a clear bottle, but seems to dry clear. It was a breath holding moment when I first used it though.

Okay, thanks. I'll save my money and use 120 grit then.

I use something called 'Wet-look' floor sealer here, and it is even more milkier in the bottle, but dries very clear. Must be the same sort of stuff.. :)

Got a sealing coat of varnish on the Spitfire and glued on the last parts.

Just needs a flat coat, add the light underneath and unmask the canopy.
