The Mustang is now as complete as it can be before starting initial painting and is finally ready for primer.

Re: Lancfan's "clapp't aht aud nag" (Starfix kit)
David,
That's some impressive and quick work you've done to improve the Starfix kit. A couple of questions, if I may:
1) Are you planning to open up the undernose intake? With all the other work you've been doing, that's the stand out anomaly to me;
2) What are you doing about the canopy? I'm guessing that with your fuselage thinning, it now won't fit (well, it'll fit less well than it would have originally).
regards,
Martin

Re: Lancfan's "clapp't aht aud nag" (Starfix kit)
Martin, I have something in mind to improve this air intake but that won't happen until a little later, as for the canopy that looks Ok when placed in the open position but the windscreen is a little too wide, the windscreen of the monogram p-82 fits perfectly for width and the filler around the windscreen you can see in the pictures is shaped to fit that part when slightly reshaped to match the revised kit windscreen seating. I was going to reveal this after painting and during final assembly, but-now you know

Great work on this kit David, a lot of effort has been required to bring it up to scratch!

Thanks Shaun, Chris. the silver, alluminium & white base colours are now on, the next step will be to mask off the edges for the black stripes and then the model will be ready for varnish & decals.

This is certainly coming along great, David. And I agree with Greg.

Re: Lancfan's "clapp't aht aud nag" (Starfix kit)
Thanks Greg, Sissel, this is how it looks now, when I removed the masking from the fuselage sides it pulled the paint off completely, so to avoid a repeat performance the whole model has been painted freehand.

Masking tape lifting paint is a proper pain but you've saved this one very well and it's scrubbed up really nicely.

Finished at last with a little help from parts from the Airfix P-51D, Revell P-51B & Monogram P-82, a Modelaid cockpit and a fifth of a tube of Revell Plasty filler.
