Revell MicroWings - Ian, Martin R and Coptermec
Re: Revell MicroWings - Ian, Martin R and Coptermec
That's how I used to be, Tony. And even though I now have a dedicated desk I still keep everything in my tool box.

Should have seen the one I recently threw outIan wrote:That's a nice, clean mat.
That's my modelling bench - in reality, the kitchen table! I too have the box of shame . . .coptermech wrote:I wish I had a dedicated are for modeling. Right now, everything's in a box I lug out and put away each time.

Re: Revell MicroWings - Ian, Martin R and Coptermec
It was a nice day out, so it was the picnic table for working. Got a few coats of paint on a Dauntless I've been toying with, and a good primer coat on the 262

Tony,
Looking forward to seeing some pics of the 262.
Ian,
How's your filling and sanding going?

Looking good, Martin.
The filling and sanding was done, or so I thought. After applying a coat of grey it appears the filler I applied into the wheel wells is still drying and it's still affecting the upper wing surfaces. So I have more to do on that.
I've filed the Spits spinner into a more pointed shape and got the whole thing assembled now. Just need to complete the sanding. Word of warning here, the canopy is not a good fit!

The Tempest is looking good Martin. I haven't had a chance the past couple of days to work on the 262. I've got something different in mind for the paint job though.......

Thank you, Tony. I'm hoping to get some decals on tonight - but I may not go with the kit scheme. I can't wait to see what you've got planned for the 262.coptermech wrote:The Tempest is looking good Martin. I haven't had a chance the past couple of days to work on the 262. FYI I'm going to be more involved in the Matchbox GB in the near future, so progress may slow down a bit - but I'm still committed to building more of these interesting but challenging small fry. I'm currently trying to decide whether my next build in the series will be the Dauntless, the Wildcat or the Spitfire.

They are fun to build. The only issue I really have is the fact that I have sausage finger syndrome..... its hard for me to handle such small parts, let alone fit them properly.

No sweat on any delays, Martin.
I've also got 2 Matchbox kits lined up as well as a Blitz or 2 to fit in.
On a smaller note, my Typhoon and Spit both now have camo on them. They both need another coat so no pics at the moment.

Ta. Looking forward to seeing pics. Reviewing the start of this thread, I think my next build will be the Spitfire - but I'm not looking forward to it!
Got some decals on the Tempest last night. It looks quite cool! I wish I could have been bothered with the yellow wing leading edges, though.
Tony
"Sausage fingers" - yep, I know what you mean. I quite like adding detail to 1/72nd scale kits, but in 1/144th I'm definitely operating on the ragged edge of my abilities. Even painting the camouflage was taxing my eyesight and hand-eye coordination.

Progress on the 262. Still needs another coat of paint. I know the picture quality isn't so great. The paint color should be a hint at where this is going.

Interesting . . .
Re: Revell MicroWings - Ian, Martin R and Coptermec
Tempest with most of the decals on. These come from a Minicraft boxing of the old Crown kit and the roundel colours are very pale. However, my Tempest is from the early post-War period and may have been repainted in the later, brighter RAF colours. Yeah, right!
Anyway, here she is:
I now need to get the wheels on and prop painted.

Martin

Progress on both - well done, guys.
Martin, be wary of the prop. Mine had very a rounded edge so you might want to check it carefully before applying glue.
