Hmm, I can recommend a few (based on being good builds, not necessarily accuracy).

Meteor
Whirlwind fighter
Hurricane I
Spitfire I and Vb
Skyray
Banshee
Sopwith Pup
Lancaster
Sunderland

Bf-109G6 new tool, which looks like the old tool, with engraved lines. Terrible accuracy. Great build.

Bofors Gun and Quad
Churchill
Sherman
Buffalo AFV

Things to avoid like the plague

Tiger Moth
Grumman Duck/Widgeon
Mig-15
Spitfire Vc
Jeep boxed with the Buffalo :)
P-39

I've said it before but I think the following 1/72 "Old Era" Airfix kits are little gems -

Lockheed F-80 Shooting Star

Republic F-84 Thunderstreak

Douglas F4D Skyray

McDonnell F2H Banshee

If you can get them in original boxings, you will find they click together really well and have half decent interior details. The only obvious sign that they are from a different era are the raised panel lines.

The Banshee is very hard to find at the moment. I wish Airfix would re-release it.

There are others. They all date from the 1973 to 1980 period (before Airfix MkI went belly up).

Thanks all for your suggestions, that didn't take as long as I thought it would.
Now I will have to go and pull them out of the loft in the next few weeks and check the decals, the parts will be all there though so I am not to worried about that.
I'm looking forward to getting stuck into these, should have done it ages ago.

Nice list, and an interesting project! For me, that would be an impossible target - I barely manage 15 completions a year.....

I would like to be able to finish them within the year Paul and I will have a better Idea about half way through next year as to whether or not this is achievable. If I find that I'm not able to finish then I will carry on into the following year as I have a feeling some of these old kits are going to take a bit of sanding and filling to make decent and that is just OOB so my aim would really be to get these kits built, finished and out of the way so to speak regardless of time. :-D

I do indeed Eric, that is why I don't mind building it OOB as this is more of a nostalgia build, something I received and built over the Xmas period when I was twelve. 8-)
