Nice one Splash, that is really looking the part now. Looks more like Hasegawa than Starfix

Splendid work in the cockpit, Alan. That sure paid off!
Confused as always, and somewhere in hiding on the Scandinavian peninsula...

Re: Splash's Ho Ho Ho Green Giant
Cheers girls and guys.
Whilst carrying out a bit of late research I found this link half way down the page there are details and images of CH-3E #6309676 of the 20th Helicopter Squadron. Initially painted black for secretive night-missions over SEA.
I understand from the article the difference between a CH-3E and HHS-3E was the HH had the refuelling probe.
Now the question is, should I chop of the probe and paint it black?
Regards Splash

I see a GG and I want to paint it blaaack Your call of course but, looking at the link you've posted (which is very interesting BTW), it's a mean looking bugger in black

Re: Splash's Ho Ho Ho Green Giant
That's what I thought and as the special forces are under represented in this GB, black it is.ShaunW wrote:I see a GG and I want to paint it blaaack Your call of course but, from the link you've posted, it's a mean looking bugger in black
I'm think a coat of dark grey with black post shading to give it variation. I have Tamiya NATO black and Tyre black plus normal black, between these three I should get it to look black.

Re: Splash's Ho Ho Ho Green Giant
Good idea, as an entire airframe painted straight black rarely looks realistic IMHO. On full size machines painted black, there are always variations of tone apparent. Should look good!splash wrote:That's what I thought and as the special forces are under represented in this GB, black it is.ShaunW wrote:I see a GG and I want to paint it blaaack Your call of course but, from the link you've posted, it's a mean looking bugger in black

Re: Splash's Ho Ho Ho Green Giant
Should look quite sinister in black, easier than camo as well.

Coming along a treat Splash, especially the cockpit.
I reckon you should have left the original gaps in the glazing so it would have been more visible

Re: Splash's Ho Ho Ho Green Giant
I prefer the SEA camo to the all black. Makes it more 'interesting' to look at.
