Considering how ubiquitous the Huey is I'm always surprised how infrequently we see one built. You've made a nice start with the cockpit there.

Yes, and the Italeri version is really excellent little kit and fun to build. Having just built one as a diorama backdrop for my Bird Dog GB, it's good to see another one coming together so nicely. I'm seriously thinking of getting a few more for my stash now.

How are you going to tackle 'greening' the transparencies in the Huey roof?

She is coming along nicely. It's a tiny little thing isn't it.

I will watch the 'greening' with interest.

In respect to the OD color: The correct color was FS 34087 Olive Drab. But as a former crew chief, I can tell you that the colors faded, stained, what have you very easily. So it is nothing you can get hung up on.

For tinting the overhead glass, I have used a light coat of Tamiya Transparent Green with sucess.

All and all, Smeth, your Huey is looking very nice. Keep at it.

Now that is a Huey. Very good work on the tinting and overall color. Now one more tip if you desire to do it. Many (not all) UH-1B's had the top half of the nose painted black for anti-glare. But that would be your choice.

Your build looks just great.

Is there any room for weight? It looks to be a bit of a tail-sitter?
