Nice to see that at least one of the Phabulous Phantoms in this GB is approaching completion. Great job.

Re: Ians Fragmented Phantom
The F4 really suits the German colours, I want to build an F4k but the RN DSG/White never did look right some how even with the red tail and Omega on the 892 squadron a/c or the big yellow bird on 737 squadron a/c it just looked dull.
How did you do the white lines around the canopy as that looks very effective?

My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.
Re: Ians Fragmented Phantom
I didn't. That's the white undercoat where the colour was pulled off slightly by the masking tape.....splash wrote:How did you do the white lines around the canopy as that looks very effective?

It looks stunningly attractive Ian.
Just like the rest of the model.

Re: Ians Fragmented Phantom
The elevators now have the camo colours on them. Just the silvers to go then I can attach.
That'll probably be another week before I get around to it......

Only half way through Ian. Still plenty of GB to go .
It is a pain when other things drag you away from an enjoyable hobby. Speaking of which, I have to get myself to work

Luckily I'm off now till Tuesday night. Weekend might be a bit busy but Monday is looking good for a few hours at the bench.

Re: Ians Fragmented Phantom
Painted!
Just need to attach them, add a couple of sticky-outy bits and some mattcote. Slowly but surely.....
There were some decals for the fuel tanks and elevators but I appear to have misplaced them, so it will have to go without!

Ah, the one from the Tigermeet GB, I remember this one. Good of you to bring it out, seeing as you didn't have that many steps to finish.
Hope to see this done soon, it's an attractive scheme.

Re: Ians Fragmented Phantom
Nice looking job. I associate that camo with Vietnam era USAF F4, and European Grays with German F4, so it looks unusual to me.
Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Slowly but surely - and don't forget effectively!
Very nice paintwork indeed.

Re: Ians Fragmented Phantom
Well, it's all together and painted now. Just needs a bit of matt-cote here and there. Hopefully I can share some pics later!
