That looks like a nasty bend in your lower right wing, I really hope adding the upper wing will be enough to straighten it out.

Coming together well though, keep up the good work!

I am feeling much better today thanks Miss-Stang & the wing looks good now it is all attached.

I abandoned my OOB plan once I saw how empty that big interior space is between the rear of the pilots seat & the gunners position.
Airfix just provide some MG magazines & a poor attempt at the radio equipment bank behind the pilot. No sidewall detail at all.
So I set to adding the sidewall ribbing from plastic stock:



I will paint them to match the interior colour & highlight them with a little drybrushing. I may add some black boxes etc., just enough to fool the eye.

Once that lot is dry I will attach the canopy & get a coat of primer on.

I have also attached the engine necelles and discovered a very visable bump.:



Should this be there?

More pictures soon as I hope to crack on with this now.

Hmm, that is an odd bump, can't say about the airfix kit, but I wouldn't have thought so. Nothing a bit of rough can't fix :lol

Hi O-T. I have a lip on my nacelles also but not as pronounced as yours. Maybe the doctor can clear thus up. But I also noticed on my nacelle pieces that there is an indentation the leads to what must ne an intake of some sort. I will check some of my references and see what I can find. A sanding stick smoothed mine off but there is definately something there.

Glad to see that you are back in action OT. Personally, I'd sand that bump as it doesn't look like it should be there. And then I'd look on Google Images and probably have to reinstate it

Sadley we can't all get time off together this month. If I can find the time myself I may lash something together. I have noticed a serious lack of Spitfires this Blitz.

Been there!!!!

Unfortunately I have not made any progress as I can't sit at the workbench right now having put my back out.
I wish I could give you some macho reason for doing this but I catually did it coughing!
I know, it's pathetic. I have a few days off this week so hope to get some paint on ASAP.

Nasty OT, I find it's getting easier hurting myself doing everyday things, especially as I turn into an old fart, er.. mature, er.. gain more life experience.

Hope it gets better quick smart, not fun at all a crook back.

Thanks Jim. The back is much better today & I have managed to tickle the plastic.

I finished the interior as best I could, nothing outstanding just busier that Airfix provide.





The nose cone is held on with blutak. I will add the guns & attach it permanently once the painting is complete.



Once the canopy was masked I closed the whole thing up.



The only major issue I have had with this kit is with the tail assembly. It took quite a bit of dry fitting & sanding before it was attached. It still needed a little filler.





I gave those under engine steps a good seeing too with a sanding stick and the look much better now. I think there should be a small step there anyway. I got the primer on now & first coat of blue on the underside.



Might just make the deadline.

Looks like you're progressing well OT, despite all the problems you've been having (both physically and modelling)!

Glad to hear your back's easing up (I hurt my neck the other day just standing up the ironing board?? )

I managed to get the upper camo paint on today with mixed results. I decided to try a new technicque - I know, What was I thinking?

I usually paint the while upper surface the lightest colour, completely mask that off then apply the darker colour(s). This time I tried to save time by simply masking off the edges of the pattern like so:



Not a great idea with my flakey airbrush!

I managed to get some over spray where I didn't want it. paint ran down the deep Airfix panel lines & some of the paint peeled off when I removed the tamiya tape.





On the positive side, the nose cone is painted & still seperate. Plus the whole plane now has a beat up patched look about it. I think with a bit of weathering & a few oil stains I can hide the worst of it.

Too late in the day to repaint anyway. We live & learn.

I will fight on.

OT will fight them in the trenches, the wing roots, and canopies, he will never give in....
