An incredibly boring photo of the primed prop!
That's all I did on this build today. I hope to get the masking done for the green top camo soon.

Re: Sir, it's Air Vice-Marshal Park!
Finally, after a long wait, due to circumstances beyond my control, the Hurricane got masked and painted.
I decided to go with VA Camouflage Green, as it's lighter than the US Dark Green I often use, and looks better paired up with dark earth.
And then the moment of truth, removing the letter masks...
One tiny smudge on the port side.
But nice and clean on the starboard side. There is a tiny bit of retouching the camo just under the horizontal stabilizers, although it's pretty difficult to see from most angles
I doubt that I will get this finished by the end of the month, but it will be substantially done.
Cheers
Andrew

I found time to get most decals on. The kit stencils were used.
with the rest coming from an Xtradecal Early Spitfire sheet.

Thanks Paul.I am pleased with the paintwork, the masks worked nicely and it was all suspiciously hassle free. I was a bit naughty and used a Spitfire serial instead of the correct one. I just couldn't face making my own decal up.PaulBradley wrote:Looking nice, Andrew.
I have a baaad feeling about the varnishing

Those code masks certainly did a great job, very crisp, are they reusable?

Unfortunately not, I cream crackered them when I levered them off with the blade. The adhesive is good enough to prevent seepage underneath, but it makes removal a touch difficult.Jagewa wrote:Those code masks certainly did a great job, very crisp, are they reusable?

However, the sheet is cut so you can use the part surrounding the letter mask as another mask, so the sheet can do double duty!

Rudder decals in place
The "O" touched up with white and the exhausts painted burnt sienna then drybrushed with aluminium. Not finished yet!
Cheers

Aerial on and port wing light fitted. I also painted part of the undercarriage.
This build will now continue in my workbench thread.

The amount of free time for modelling just evaporated in March. I'd rather complete them without rushing, than for an arbitrary deadline!lancfan wrote:Bad luck Andrew, will watch your thread with interest, this is an unusual and interesting subject.
