Not even on BBC iplayer? Did the link on here not take you to it?
If you have Sky, Go to 'TV GUIDE' and select 'Entertainment' instead of 'All programmes'. If you scroll way down to near the bottom amongst the high 200s* there are the BBC and ITV Regional variations. Up here, the extended version of 'Have I got news for you' often gets shunted in favour of some 'Worthy' local documentary and I have to record it on BBC Northumberland or similar.

In honour of that last Norwegian fellow who thwarted the Nazis heavy water plans, some friends of mine and I watched the Heroes of Telemark with Kirk Douglas a few days ago. Maybe a little historical licence here and there but otherwise a pretty good film that I haven't seen since I was a sprog.

Somehow ( although ironically appropriately ) a new TV series of Das Boot had slipped under my radar. I just caught a couple of minutes of it but have recorded the later repeat showing. Having had issues with recordings failing recently I just watched a couple of minutes of each of the first 2 episodes to see that they had indeed recorded. Both clips involved the boat being attacked by aircraft, once by a Sunderland and another by a Beaufighter. They must have been CGI and were only glimpsed briefly but it was nice to see something other than that prolific WWII fighter/ bomber / intruder, the Harvard.

If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

Indeed that sounds interesting, PT, mind you if it's on something like Sky I'll miss it as we're far too tight to pay their subscription feesiggie wrote:What channel??? Sky Atlantic. It was on about 10pm and again at 2am It should be available on 'On Demand'
It would seem to be available on DVD since late November.
It's a sequel to the original series, this one set in 1942. There is apparently another series in the pipeline.

Re: What Is The Last Movie/Show You Saw?
Whilst looking up the DVD of the new series of Das Boot I discovered a movie with Bruce Willis as a U.S. officer training Chinese pilots to fight the Japanese in 1939.
It was a bit of a quest to find what title it is released under over here as it has three different titles. 'Unbreakable Spirit', 'Air Strike' and 'The Bombing'.
It's available here on Amazon under the titles 'Air Strike' for £15.99 or 'The Bombing' for £3 if you're prepared to overlook the Corsairs on the cover....!
It's a big budget Chinese production with what seems to be far superior CGI air battle scenes to the recent 'Hurricane' movie.
According to one review, however, the air scenes have to be good to make up for a patchy plot and iffy dialogue (Hello?....Top Gun?)
Bruce Willis' lines (the review continues) appear to have been written in Chinese and then put into Google Translate. for example, 'I order you to escort this young lady from the base, and that's an order'
There's a YouTube trailer for the movie that has Chinese Polikarpov I-16s mixing it with Zeroes and bombers. I suppose it would appeal to a shallow individual who would get it just for the flying scenes
........my ordered copy of 'The Bombing' is in the post

Re: What Is The Last Movie/Show You Saw?
We watched 'Mortal Engines' last night, really enjoyed it with some great inspiration for those planning a steampunk build (like what I is )
Very well acted by mostly lesser known actors, with some nice nods to some other films like Mad Max. Recommended!

Re: What Is The Last Movie/Show You Saw?
the new Dracula mini series...not over keen on it tbh. It has an overwhelming dearth of scantily dressed busty vamps...how I miss Hammer films
I stared a century thinking this will never change

I know there's loads of negative vibes around this one, especially on tooyube(!!), but Star Wars Ep.9 Rise of Skywalker. Thoroughly enjoyed it and some good nod backs to IV, V and VI, mainly music that I can remember! (it's been four days, I've been asleep since then!!). I liked it, didn't feel disappointed that I'd spent 140 odd mins sat in the cinema. So thumbs up from me!
Hoping to return to modelling sometime this year!!

Star Wars IX, The Rise of Skywalker. As noted elsewhere, Annette and I really liked it - seems to have closed out the series quite well and we can now let Disney and crew milk it with off-shoots, theme parks, and all sorts of merchandise and stuff.
PS: We include SW 3.5, Rogue One, as a necessary addition(insertion) to the series, but no more.

I actually rather enjoyed it, lots of good humour and I thought the chap playing Dracula was ace.

Mrs W and I also very much enjoyed it and I thought it was a very imaginative rehash of the novel. The earlier War Of The Worlds mini-series was very good as well - the BBC can still be relied on to produce some decent drama.Stuart wrote:dayzofspeed wrote:... scantily dressed busty vamps...
