Splash's last minute PM MkV. ***finished***
My wife is at work and I have just found a PM Spitfire MkVb in my stash, so I thought tonight I would have a quick build to see how far I can get in an evening.
Now this is not a Tamiya shake and bake hit in fact it's more like Airfix first Spitfire kit very basic, small parts count and very little detail.
So here I go, it's 19:15 here in the UK and a re-run of Top Gear is on the TV so out with the tray and time to cut plastic in front of the TV.
Regards Splash

Re: Splash's last minute PM MkV
It's now 21:30 2hours 15 minutes into the build and I'm at this stage.
As kits go it very old school and reminds me of the very old frog kits that had sold wings with no wheel wells.
At only £1.80 it has to be value for money and would be a good starter kit as its so easy to build. But as an accurate representation of a Spitfire it falls short in too many areas.
I'm going to give it a coat of klear as the PM decals are notorious bad this means it will not be finished tonight and as it's my birthday tomorrow I will not get any bench time until Friday so the GB extension will help.

Happy birthday Splash!
You like coming into a GB a bit late and make a good model with little time left don't you?

Re: Splash's last minute PM MkV
My past experience of using PM's decals has not been good, normally they tend to be too big so I have painted the rudder red and using a hole punch cut out the white crescent and star.
The rest of the decals behaved well and settled down well.
Apart from it's cheap price there is very little to recommend this kit unless you need a blitz kit as in total I have spent less that 4 hours on.
