Thanks chaps.

Matt, I used Tamiya TS-36 Flourescent Red over the White as it's quite a translucent shade so you can build up the opacity. A coat of Mr.Color GX100 Clear Gloss lacquer changed the hue to a more orange, a happy accident, as they say.
The raised delineation you mentioned was sanded back to lessen the step and used as a guide. You can't see it on the finished model though.

Meanwhile.....

The Airfix Vintage Classic DHC Beaver is underway on floats.

Image

I moved the front and middle sets of seats forward as they were way too far back from the instrument panel. I also had to move the control column forward too. The resultant holes were filled with stretched sprue, trimmed and sanded.

Seat belts were fashioned from painted strips of tape to add a splash of colour through the thick clear parts.

Image

The holes indicated needed drilling out as these weren't mentioned in the instructions for the floats supports to be connected to

The float cross bars were replaced with brass tube for integrity.

Nice work Mike. I save all the tapers from bits of stretched sprue for plugging holes too.

Excellent work Mike - This kit is on my to do list but I hear it can be a bit of a trial to build.

The Beaver is coming along great. I must find some more brass rod and tubing myself - it gets used up in so many useful ways.
The past, present, and future walked into a bar. It was tense.

On the other work bench (magazine reviews) is the brand new resin kit from Aerotech at Marsh Models of the Bugatti 100P racer prototype.
It is a resin, white metal, and etched multimedia kit. It is also a limited edition of only 150 kits.

I had to break out the heavy duty adhesive and sanders, no big deal, it is just about knowing your enemy

One of these days I will build a classic Airfix DH Beaver, I've looked at the kit many times over the years but for some reason have never bought one. The cabin is looking really good, Mike. The Bugatti 100P is one of those old designs that manages to still look very modern, futuristic even. Two-part epoxy resin is your friend for this kind of job!
