This looks interesting. 18 years is a long time to have to wait before being able get started on a project and I hope you get a lot of fun out of building this pair.

Terrific work!
You realise that you have taken the step that will ensure a kit of this subject will soon be released?
cheers,
David

In 1997 Academy announced that they would release a kit of the P2B-1s with the Douglas d 558.
this saddly was cancelled later. Since then I searched for info and the decals wich I recently found at JBOT decals.

Good work, it's neat that you'll be able to continue on with the decals at hand.
IMO (probably a bit warped, I know), it's a good thing Academy cancelled so we can watch this.

Very cool. A Skyrocket kit was appeared in the local (Vancouver Canada) craigslist, by the way, under Collectibles.

Did you do a separate build report on the Skyrocket?
I have it in my stash and will want it to build it soon.

Hi Eric, no I had build the Skyrocket already when I thought that this was perhaps an interesting build for the forum.
It was the special hobby kit and I build it in a few days.
I didn't build the interior as it will sit in the bombbay.
The cockpit is very detailed so it can make a great plane.

Thanks. I've built the Special Hobby Bell X-1E and it turned out OK. Sounds like the Skyrocket should be good too.

This looks like a really great build so far.
Can't wait to see the rest of it.

I have added some detail to the plasticard out of hand.
There are so few pictures of the bay or the entire aircraft so anything looks good IMO.
I added weights to make a wheelsitter and it was quite a lot.
12 148 grain .38 special wadcutters painted green. Look like extra fuel drums.
I placed them in the back of the cockpit area because the windows are so small you can't see any detail back there.
everybody a very happy new year see you in 2017.
