AIRFIX,1/72, LUFTWAFFE Mk1a SPITFIRE, 'WHITE 14' HANS-JOACHIM MARSEILLE
My next submission for the 'What If' category. If the Luftwaffe operated Mk 1a Spitfire's during the Battle of Britain, this wouldn't look too dissimilar (other than the round things, I have no idea what they're called, being way too large) to the BF 109, 'White 14', flown by Hans-Joachim Marseille (the future Star of Africa).
This is the one he belly-landed near Calais-Merck on 2 September 1940 following an encounter with Spitfires of 74 Sqn off Sheerness and presently resides in the Heritage Hanger at Biggin Hill.
Thanks for looking,
J

I read that Marseille, when Goering congratulated him on achieving a conquest of 100, asked if Goering was talking about his air combat or women he bedded. He was obviously a great character as well as a superb fighter pilot. A fitting tribute to one of the greats of WW2.
It's only pain, work through it.

I like that a lot. You are giving me ideas for some research for a future project.
