I've got some pictures of the one at IWM Duxford if you're doing that one.

That is the one I'll be modelling Toby, I'm OK for pictures both as it is now and as it was then so I should be fine, thanks.

This build is of the Airfix Gloster Javelin FAW.9 kit using both kit and DIY decals in the markings of XH887 of the A&AEE, Boscombe Down 1968 - 75 and currently displayed at IWM Duxford.

Re: Lancfan's Gloster Javelin FAW.9
This'll be good to see David.
I didn't know Airfix ever did a Javelin, I might have to see if I can get one to go with my 1/72 Interceptors.
Cheers

Re: Lancfan's Gloster Javelin FAW.9
It wasn't their tooling Stuart, they got the basic sprues from Heller (kit number 346 modified) and added a new canopy and the white sprue to make the fighter. It was sold as Gloster Javelin FAW9/9R 04045 and was also part of the "R.A.F. collection" set which provided my model.
They also sold a straight reboxing of the T.3 as 04042 (Heller kit number 346) in 1993 as a limited edition.

Re: Lancfan's Gloster Javelin FAW.9
I have made a start on the cockpit alongside my work on the Biggles GB Mosquito. The kit ejection seats need some details added before I can assemble the cockpit, pictures TF.

Re: Lancfan's Gloster Javelin FAW.9
The tub has been painted in Revell Aqua09 Anthracite, before I continue the seats needed some work based on photographs of the real thing.
The ejection seats part way through detailing, the seat on the right is finished and ready to be fitted.
Both seats are now in place in the cockpit and the cockpit coaming has been scalloped on the RH side to make it more realistic for the F.9. The build can pick up pace now that this work has been done.

The noseweight, air intake trucking and cockpit tub have been glued into the appropriate fuselage halves.

The fuselage halves have been glued together and are strapped up to allow them to dry properly.

The cockpit looks quite effective David.
I like your nose weights too.
You'd have been nuts not to fit them

Cheers Dazzled.
The flying surfaces were assembled and the tailpipe fairing and underslung tanks were fitted to the fuselage.
The basic airframe is complete and the model is now ready for paint and decals.
