Re: Ratch's 2018 perils with plastic
That is a cracking idea to make two sister ships from the same basic model. I admire you tackling a conversion in this scale - I remember the articles in Airfix Magazine many moons ago where different ships were converted from kits. I could never do that kind of fiddly work - everything is just too small. I do like the waterline effect too - a simple idea which transforms the model.

Come, come, now Richard, a positive mental attitude is needed, think the model will be great and it will be, or something like thatRatch wrote:Its the first time I've tried anything like it It could all end in disasterLone Modeller wrote:That is a cracking idea to make two sister ships from the same basic model. Ratch I hope you have as much fun as i did when I had the silly idea of building HMS Warspite during two different stages of her career.
Trust me, the smug feeling you get when you look at the two finished ships side by side far out weighs all the hard work.
Keep up the excellent work, I look forward to following your builds.

My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Thanks Splash, I've ordered the Lifecolor Kriegsmarine set, so they're on hold until that arrives

Great looking Horten, Ratch, those things have the look of something out of a Gerry Anderson series!

Thanks Paddy
I started another batch of kits while waiting for the Lifecolor set to be delivered, including this Amera tent

A little lighter than Vallejo Hull Red. Beautiful through the airbrush, no thinning required. Simplicity itself

The hull red looks to have gone on very smoothly, Ratch. It's always good day in the office when paint sprays like that straight out of the pot without any hassles!

The lifecolour paints are nice. I have brushed them on and had good results too.
